candidates, they re going to have to punch hard or they re out of the picture altogether. this will be interesting to see. at the end of the day, democrats won t somebody who will beat donald trump and with whom they agree with a lot of things and i think they ve got a lot to choose from among these candidates. peter, you wrote a piece about one of the marquis names tonight, elizabeth warren. what are you looking for and what do you think we ll see? well, i think what we need to do right now, because of things like what trump has been saying today, because we live in the smartphone era, everything feels very important right now. it s important to pick ourselves up in the middle of the campaign and say, who s actually growing over time in this primary? and that person is elizabeth warren. elizabeth warren has grown steadily over time. and she has increased her share of the vote among many different parts of the democratic coalition. and a long-term, slow steady climb is a better ind
filtered by the most powerful people in this country. and media companies aid and abet that. the law aids and abets that at times. those are real problems. do you think that we are now in a different place with regard to women in the workplace and their ability to work without having to live under, you know, some of the kind of things you describe, or even the kind of double standards that women have always dealt with in the workplace? i sincerely hope so, fareed. i think we have a long way to go. a lot of this story was driven by women who were tremendously brave, and put a lot on the line. but also had the benefit of some spotlight, some platform. and in industry after industry, these same stories are playing out, without the benefit of that spotlight or those marquis names. and you know, this is happening from the boardroom to the assembly line. and i hope what people take away from this is how far we still have to go, that we can t rest on our laurels on this.
governors in those states, those four critical states, sets an environment that is good for the president, because there is so much backlash and reaction to what i think has been overreaching by those republican governors coming in on top of the democratic governors. it is sort of a balancing act. if you re running for re-election, whether it is in 2012 or any other year, you always have to weigh, don t you, governor, obviously the positive aspects of being on the good side of the white house by helping him out, against what your own constituents may think about you having a picture with your arm around the president. i think that is overrated, chris. i think we talk about that in the media a lot more than there is reality to it. it cost al gore the presidency. the idea that somehow if bill clinton didn t go out and campaign, the public would forget that al gore was bill clinton s vice president. ludicro ludicrous. the consultants that gave that advice to al gore should be sued for
