New Hope for Lebanon | Israel Today

All Lebanese politicians have failed to reach a solution or even take initiative to resolve the crisis in the country. Lebanon suffers from poverty, inflation, rising commodity prices, a shortage of electricity and fuel – not to mention an ongoing political crisis that has led to a hostile takeover of Lebanon by Hezbollah and Iran. The huge warehouse explosion at the Beirut Port in August of 2020, for a short time made world headlines and briefly brought a spotlight on the country’s many woes. This past Saturday the head of the Lebanese Church, Bechara Boutros Rai, 81, the Maronite Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, addressed a crowd where he lives in Bkerké. Hundreds of his supporters gathered there and heard his speech. He proposed steps for solving Lebanon’s problems in a moving speech from his office window. His initiative was broadcast live to millions of Lebanese in Lebanon and abroad.
