One firefighter was injured while responding to a fire at a vacant bank on Marlowe Road in Richmond Sunday afternoon. Firefighters were called to 7012 Marlowe Road for multiple reports of a commercial building fire just before 4:05 p.m. When crews arrived, they spotted heavy smoke coming from the former Wells Fargo s roof and flames in the drive-thru teller area. Everything was under control by just before 4:55 p.m., according to officials.

Update Given On Roads Affected By November Storm In Alexander County WHKY File Photo January 29, 2021 The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has provided an update on the roads closed in Alexander County due to flooding which occurred during the November 12, 2020, Tropical Storm. These are the most recent updates. The following projects are complete and the roads are open. Millersville Road at NC Highway 16 South, which was a total roadway washout at bridge pipe location. Nester Road at Millersville Road, which was a total roadway washout at bridge location. Smith Grove Church Road, which was a total washout of a 48” maintenance pipe.

THESE are the crooks who have been put behind bars in 2021 so far. The Echo has compiled the biggest cases so far to come to court this year, with five crooks jailed. Sex offender Laurence Bourne, 68, was accused of abusing a child on numerous occasions in Basildon. He has been convicted of abusing a child over a three-year period 30 years ago. Bourne, of Brackendale Court, Basildon, was arrested in June that year as part of an investigation by Essex Police’s Quest team. He was later charged with seven counts of indecent assault.  He denied the charges but was convicted following a trial at Basildon Crown Court.
