In school election Femling, Schultz win on Tuesday
The Perham-Dent school board election was held on Tuesday, May 18, 1971. A total of 840 people voted, 561 from Perham and 279 from Dent. Dexter Femling, with 519 total votes, came in first place. With 313 votes, incumbent Melvin Schultz came in second place. Both were elected to the new school board.
Local bowling banquet set for Saturday
All bowlers, along with their spouses and sponsors of the bowling team, were invited to attend a banquet. This was planned to take place at 7 p.m. in the 4-H building on Saturday, May 22, 1971. After a short program, a presentation of awards and a dance were planned.

Charlie Olson was one of three people inducted into the Perham Hall of Fame. Charlie worked in the city for many years as an electrician, and in recent years has been especially busy with the East Otter Tail Historical Society. He also built a 1/3 scale steam engine, which he showcases at events all around the region. Jane Aschnewitz presented a summary of Charlie s involvement. His wife, Regina, was on hand Saturday for induction ceremonies. (Focus file photo 1996)
