In the morning, President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović laid wreaths and lit candles in front of the monument “Glas hrvatske žrtve – Zid boli“, Central Cross in Aleja for killed Croatian war veterans, the tombs of the first President of the Republic of Croatia, Dr. Franjo Tuđman, and the common graves for unidentified victims of the Homeland War at the Crematorium – Cenotaph at the Mirogoj City Cemetery in Zagreb.

The President of Croatia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Zoran Milanović, participated in the commemoration, laying a wreath and lighting a candle at the memorial “Crystal Cube of Serenity” on Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square. Croatian President: It s a shame post-war reconstruction was botched

(Photo: Ured predsjednika Republike Hrvatske / Marko Beljan) ZAGREB, 13 January (Hina) – President Zoran Milanović said on Wednesday it was a shame that post-war housing reconstruction had been botched, but that this was not a matter for the State Prosecutor’s Office (DORH). “It is obvious botch jobs were done, or blueprints were so bad. These houses were poorly built or someone stole by sparing building material. Twenty years have passed and I think that a statute of limitations has  expired,” Milanovic told reporters in Petrinja on Wednesday. He added that that cannot be considered as war profiteering and that no profit was made in post-war reconstruction but botch jobs were done and construction material was spared.

Russia s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on official visit to Croatia

(Photo: Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia / Marko Beljan) ZAGREB, Dec 16 (Hina) – Croatia’s President Zoran Milanovic met with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov,  who was on an official visit to Croatia, the president’s office said on Wednesday. They discussed political and economic relations between Croatia and Russia and the situation in Southeast Europe. They also talked about the possibilities of improving Russia’s relations with the European Union, of which Croatia is a member, the press release said. Lavrov last visited Croatia 16 years ago and the latest visit occurred after being postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
