Towns get $1 2 million from Community Crossings

Towns get $1.2 million from Community Crossings 12/29/20 6:18 AM GREENFIELD Three Hancock County communities will be able to upgrade their roads thanks to funding from the state’s Community Crossings grant program. McCordsville received $992,723.17; New Palestine received $112,171.10; and Shirley received $95,199.66. The funds are allocated through the Indiana Department of Transportation and require a matching investment from the communities that receive them. The program is a major source of funds for local street and road projects. Mark Witsman, town engineer for McCordsville, said the town will use some of the funds to make repairs to six roads. The majority of its funding, however, will go toward creating a new road, Aurora Way. It will be constructed between County Roads 500N and 600N, intersecting with County Road 600W.
