Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public’s help in solving a 35-year-old cold case – a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian.
The deadly collision occurred on May 24, 1986, at approximately 2 a.m. Charlie Gammage, who was 36 years old, was walking west of Ridgetown on Ridge Line, just east of Scane Road, when he was struck and killed by a passing motorist, police said on Tuesday.

The driver reportedly failed to remain at the scene of the crash.
Although OPP officers initially responded to the crash since it occurred in their jurisdiction, Chatham-Kent police have since taken over the investigation.
