house, and specifically that this president, hasn t weighed is just inaccurate and wrong. he weighed in. he said if the allegations are true, he should step aside. to be clear, she s right. trump has only weighed in to say if the allegations are true, roy moore will do the right thing and step aside. that was a week ago tonight. when he promised he d have more comment when he returned to the country. he has punted every single day since. and his endorsement of roy moore still stands. ryan nobles is outfront tonight at the white house. and ryan the last thing we heard definitively from the president of the united states about roy moore was moore will be, quote, a great senator. and i m really happy with that. end quote. what does sanders mean, that the president has weighed in? well, the spin coming from the white house tonight, erin, is that the president has weighed in on this issue, there s nothing more to say and they want to leave it in the hands of the voters of alabama. leg
the hill for anything. that s one thing. but, two, you know, this white house said clearly, you know, the people of alabama will decide. and then the president weighed in and it points the finger back to him. you can t have it both ways. this president has accusers, and al franken came out and said yes he did wrong. but the president has not fully addressed beyond talking to billy bush and saying locker room all these issues that are still looming. this president is going to have to come out and address it, because the longer and the more stories come out, and they keep coming, it goes back to the white house to hear what the white house has to say about it. and it also puts a glaring spotlight on the president s past. about his questioners or accusers. it does. and, mark, you know, here s the thing. the president has dodged this issue repeatedly, for an entire week here and when he did comment on it on air force one
angela, one area which one place they haven t come out with a definitive response is the white house. the white house put out a statement early on saying if the allegations are true, moore should step down, but this weekend, kellyane conway and mark shore went on tv and said we need to hear more from roy moore. that s as far as we re going to go. is that far enough? of course it s not. what s mostly interesting on folks on the other side of the aisle is the way in which we will politicize these issues when it comes to democrats, right. there s a no tolerance policy when it comes to democrats, look no further than harry weinstein, but harvey weinstein, but there should be a line we draw in the sand on a sexual assault, molestation, on sexual predators. that should not be a partisan issue. this is something we should come together and say there is no place for a sexual predator in the united states senate and that message should come from the commander in chief. i think the challen
strategy from the white house going forward on this? i know mark shore told us democrats were a must have on this bill, on tax reform. is that where things are? i think it s pretty simple, the strategy is to get enough votes to pass tax cuts. can you elaborate on getting democrats on board? look, we don t know why any democrat would be against providing tax relief and tax cuts to middle class america. i don t know why anybody wouldn t want to get on board with that. hunter? thank you, sarah. it s been almost a month since hurricane maria hit puerto rico. 80% of the island still don t have power and they still don t have reliable drinking water. does the administration consider the current state of affairs in puerto rico okay? we re continuing to do everything we can to help the people of puerto rico. that s one of the reasons that the governor will be here at the white house tomorrow, to
senator patty murray to stabilize obamacare. has the white house been involved in those negotiations and will you support that deal? yes, we have been involved and this is a short-term deal for a year or two years and it will get us over this hump. it is a short-term solution so that we don t have this very dangerous little period including dangerous period for insurance companies by the way. they are working together, and i know very much what they re doing, okay? okay. a sudden turn. but if that s where it ends, some would like to give credit to president trump for at least landing on a bipartisan funding plan for health care. but at this hour we can report that is not where he landed. white house staff right now walking back the president s comments at this very hour asserting there isn t a deal as far as they re concerned. negotiations ongoing. and we have a new on the record statement from white house legislative director mark shore telling nbc s hallie jackson
