CM school board votes to buy property for future use

When the chance came to purchase property near the high school complex, the Central Montcalm Public School Board of Education agreed to take that opportunity. During an 11-minute meeting on Monday, board members voted to purchase a parcel of land for $16,500 at 1390 S. Sheridan Road (M-66) near the high school complex. The property sits on the corner of Sheridan Road and Clifton Drive and was recently condemned. The property will be cleaned up, making it available for future use to the school district.

Montcalm County hires own employees to monitor political meetings

The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners on Monday voted to pay two county employees to act as monitors during county Democratic and Republican party meetings at the Montcalm County Administrative Building in Stanton. Commissioners also voted to contract with the Stanton Police Department for a city police officer to act as monitor during county board meetings, after the county Sheriff’s Office declined to be involved.
