Julius Irving anxiously waited for a jury with only one Black woman on it to decide his fate. After more than a year and nine months awaiting trial, he would either be freed or be sentenced to life in prison.

Kaytona Jackson was three years old when she died in Young s care after being denied her epilepsy medication
Young was leader of House of Prayer for All cult, which she ran in rural Florida between mid-1980s and early 90s
Her own daughter turned Young in to the police in connection with Emon s killing in 2016

Violence broke out as dead-end Trumpers marched in Washington today and stormed the nation’s capitol. I expect Sen. Tom Cotton to call any minute now for federal troops to take no quarter to stop the rioting.
Hundreds stormed barricades around the nation’s Capitol and reached the steps, where Congress was debating the effort by Trumpers to force Congress to reject the Electoral College votes. It won’t happen in the end, but it will take hours before the stunt by foes of democracy is over.
Jury trials are at a halt once again in Alachua County by the order of the judicial circuit’s chief judge, who cited COVID-19 concerns.
The Eighth Judicial Circuit’s new Chief Judge Mark Moseley suspended all in-person jury trials in Alachua and Baker Counties for the week of Jan. 11 based on local COVID-19 cases and rates in the past few weeks.
The two counties were specified, court officials said, because they are the only ones in the circuit with scheduled jury trials next week. The decision to suspend jury trials is up to the chief judge, who considers local COVID-19 trends, emergency department visits and hospitalizations for coronavirus-like symptoms.
