Four-way contest set for Flat Rock election in fall

Four-way contest set for Flat Rock election in fall There will be a four-way race for three seats on the Flat Rock City Council in the fall general election, while Mayor Mark Hammond will be running unopposed. Four candidates, including two incumbents, filed to run for three four-year council seats that expire this year. Tuesday was the deadline for filing nominating petitions to run for office. The candidates have until today to withdraw their names so they won’t appear on the ballot for the Nov. 3 election, Clerk Shane Anne Harrison said. Vying for the seats are Mayor Pro Tempore Jim Martin and Councilman John Bergeron. Also running are Larry Dishaw, a former building and safety director for the city, and Steve Beller, a former council member. Both Dishaw and Beller also serve on the city planning commission and board of review, respectively.
