Rallyists converge in UP Diliman for protest action vs Duterte s last SONA

Published July 26, 2021 8:39am Updated July 26, 2021 9:53am Members of militant and progressive groups gathered early at the Diliman campus of the University of the Philippines on Monday to stage a protest action hours before President Rodrigo Duterte s final State of the Nation Address. Carrying tarpaulins, flags and streamers and wearing face masks, the protesters arrived before 8 a.m. from various areas, according to a report by Mark Makalalad on Super Radyo dzBB. One group came from Southern Tagalog. Another was a religious group while still another was a group of indigenous peoples. Among the messages on their streamers were Duterte, inutil na, pahamak pa, wakasan na, Uphold prophetic faith, and Hustisya.

Published March 11, 2021 12:33pm Updated March 11, 2021 12:50pm Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. has no intention to resign as spokesperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) despite the recommendation of the Senate to remove him from the post. “Very good. Welcome ‘yan. Makes my job easier. But it’s just a recommendation and it’s the executive branch who will decide on it. It’s up to them,” Parlade said in a text message to Super Radyo dzBB’s Mark Makalalad when asked on the matter. The Senate recommendation was part of the national defense panel s report on its inquiry into incidents of red-tagging, which was approved on Wednesday.
