The Potter County Commissioners Court has approved a resolution addressing the allocation of potential settlement funds collectively received from opioid manufacturers - as part of the process to seek redress for governmental funds spent in handling the opioid crisis. During Monday s virtual regular session, the Court voted 5-0 in favor of the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council Settlement Allocation Term Sheet.
Officials indicated the agreement approves collaboration between the state of Texas and participating political subdivisions, including Potter County, in exploring resolution of the opioid litigation; a formula for allocating settlement funds among participants in the event settlements are reached; and establishment of a Texas Opioid Council to manage and distribute that portion of settlement funds set aside for remediation of the opioid crises in Texas.
