Chicago s controversial teacher s union leader called Mayor Lori Lightfoot relentlessly stupid as the union and city officials continue to argue going into a second weeks of school closures.
The number of school closures reached a 12-month high on Thursday, with 4,783 schools closed according to data tracking educational establishments since January 2020.
Chicago Public Schools remained closed on Friday as deadlock continues between Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union with little sign either side is weakening.
The union sought to revert to remote learning during the latest surge of and while both sides hammer out a deal. But School leaders said remote learning didn t work and schools can remain open.
Chicago teacher Joseph Ocol said: I joined the Chicago public schools as a teacher and I believe my role should be inside the classroom with my students.
