By Rachel Alexander web posted June 14, 2021 Arizona used to have some of the best livestock laws in the nation. Now, the cattle ranching industry is being torn apart due to a dismantling of the successful laws and regulations that used to prevent cattle theft. Close to 3,000 head of cattle have been stolen from at least 32 people in the last few years. Thieves brazenly stole over 100 cows with calves from well-known attorney and judge Tom Kelly in Yavapai County. Cowboys who once made a good living raising and selling cattle are finding substantial portions of their herds decimated, and when they complain to authorities, no one is ever arrested. Instead, they get attacked and the investigations go nowhere.

“We’re going to knock on every door in the city over the next few years.”
Mark Killian, chief of the Williamsport Bureau of Fire, is a door-to-door “salesman.” But he is not peddling cheap kitchen knives or cure-all panaceas, and what he’s selling is the importance of preparedness and safety the smoke detectors are free.
Killian and the city fire department are giving away smoke detectors, free of charge, to city residents.
The fire department launched its S.A.F.E. (Smoke Alarms for Everyone) initiative on Saturday with the goal of ensuring the detectors are offered and installed in every home in the city.
Fire crews responded to a two-unit fire on Campbell Street late Friday afternoon.
Alyssa Strothers, a neighbor, said she called 911 after she came home and noticed medium-sized flames coming from 645 Campbell St.
“I was on the phone with 911 and within five seconds, the flames went up!” Strothers said.
City Fire Chief Mark Killian confirmed the building, deemed uninhabitable, houses two separate units.
Strothers said she believed the building housed three adults and two minors although she did not think anyone was home when the fire broke out.
The Lycoming County 911 Center described the fire as a two-alarm fire meaning it dispatched additional manpower and equipment to the scene.
