The Department for Children and Families has been in and out of the Statehouse in recent weeks to initiate the process of building a new rehab and detention facility for juveniles in Vermont, the latest steps in a plan drafted back in December.
A spurned bidder for the demolition of Burlington High School sued the Burlington School District in January and asked for an injunction to stop work on the project.
A federal judge approved an agreement between attorneys for the school district and Monsanto’s parent company, Bayer, on Friday that would allow demolition of the high school in February.
Burlington wants to demolish its PCB-infested high school and have the chemical manufacturer pay for demolition and construction of a new high school. The company wants to delay demolition to preserve evidence.
