Townships to be approached about passing park levy | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Report EAST LIVERPOOL Members of the Thompson Park board met last week afternoon in council chambers for an hour. All members were present as were Auditor Marilyn Bosco and Park Superintendent Shawn Rybaczenko. There was a brief discussion during the president’s report regarding the levy fund and whether St. Clair Township and Liverpool Township would be able to pass a levy to help fund the park. Member Mark Hissom did speak with city Law Director Charles Payne, who advised him to ask trustees for both townships about the matter. Rybaczenko reported that he continues to work on the restroom project and a police report has been filed on the damage to the restrooms. Board members discussed possible funding projects to either replace or rebuild the existing restroom.

Both paving on the exit road and electrical work at the maintenance building have been completed, he said.

Staff Report East Liverpool The Thompson Park Board of Commissioners met virtually for a brief meeting last week. The body agreed to hire Ryan Lilly as a new part-time assistant park manager and to purchase a new 5.5′ x 10′ trailer from Tractor Supply for $1,099 to move its fleet of equipment on as requested by Park Superintendent Shawn Rybaczenko. The purchase will come out of the newly renewed park levy money, explained East Liverpool Auditor Marilyn Bosco. In an update on the restrooms, Rybaczenko said that the blueprints have been dropped off for the contractors, and officials currently are waiting to hear back with a start date.

(Submitted photo) EAST LIVERPOOL For this holiday season, volunteers hit a landmark accomplishment. Not only have they distributed close to 200,000 meals to East Liverpool students since classroom doors were shuttered in 2020 due to the pandemic, members of the school district staff and the community donated almost $7,000 through the effort of city Councilman Jeff Kreefer and his project to provide gift cards, hams and turkeys to families in need within the district.
