Building collapse creates roadblock for Maryland Book Bank, nonprofits

This comes after a nearby building collapse has made it very tough to operate. The roadblock on Union Avenue in north Baltimore is not only a big mess, it s an unexpected inconvenience for several nonprofits trying to serve the community. The wall on the abandoned building collapsed during some pre-demolition work on Sunday, leaving a pile of rubble and no way to get around it. This was in the middle of the night. The wall was just unstable and somehow or other, the shaking of the train, the weather,” said Mark Feiring, executive director of the Maryland Book Bank. Whatever the reason, Feiring, his crew and several other Baltimore nonprofits have little to no access to the warehouse that keeps their operations running.
