Isle of Wight drink driver banned from the roads | Isle of Wight County Press

A JOBLESS Isle of Wight man who admitted drink-driving on the day of his trial last month, was banned from driving for three years. Mark Derek Alston, who had already admitted to possessing cannabis and driving his elderly mother s car without a licence and insurance, in St John s Road, Ryde, on the afternoon of September 6 last year, had initially denied drink driving. He made the denial on the grounds he drank alcohol after the police turned up at his mother s address in The Mall, Brading, where Alston also lives. An eyewitness had seen Alston driving in Ryde and told the police he appeared to be affected by drink, said Ann Smout, prosecuting, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.
