Portland police ID officer, man fatally shot in Lents Parks April 17 2021
Eight-year veteran Officer Zacary Delong is on administrative leave after killing a Robert Delgado, who was reported to have been pointing a gun.
The Portland police officer who killed a man reportedly carrying a replica firearm in Lents Park on Friday, April 16, has been identified.
He is Officer Zachary Delong, an eight-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau assigned to East Precinct. Delong remains on administrative leave during the investigation into the shooting as per bureau policy.
On Saturday, police also ID d the man who was fatally shot by police as 46-year-old Robert Douglas Delgado.

Portland police on Saturday identified the officer who shot and killed a man in Lents Park on Friday as Zachary DeLong, who has worked for the Portland Police Bureau for eight years.
Two sources with direct knowledge of the investigation said DeLong shot Robert Douglas Delgado, 46, after Delgado drew what appeared to be a firearm. The sources said investigators recovered an orange-tipped replica firearm at the scene in Southeast Portland. DeLong was put on administrative leave, which is standard practice after police shootings.
