Ignacio: GPD short officers, maximizing efforts

The Guam Police Department is still fighting to get to its goal of 500 officers, but the agency is maximizing what resources it has available, GPD Chief Stephen Ignacio said during a budget hearing on Wednesday.
GPD currently has 268 uniformed officers and 61 civilian support staff, Ignacio said. We would like to be at 450. with the growth with the military, you know, with Camp Blaz being constructed, we like to be at 475, if not, maybe even up to 500. But I m telling you, senators, it has been a challenge trying to get 300.
