Northville Township Board of Trustees rescinds administrative tax fee

According to Herrmann s calculations, the annual fee cost the average township household $5.55 per month. I feel like, while it was definitely a campaign issue for the supervisor, clerk and treasurer and had gained traction with residents, we as a board had not heard from people who were very upset about this fee, Herrmann said. Before we rescind it, I feel we should make a concerted effort to study it and get feedback from our residents. Abbo, who made elimination of the administrative tax a priority of his campaign for supervisor, acknowledged that while the fee is relatively small, these small amounts add up.

New Northville Township Supervisor Mark Abbo discusses priority goals

Since officially taking office on Nov. 20, new Northville Township Supervisor Mark Abbo has hit the ground running; well, at least as fast as COVID-19 restrictions will allow. The Northville Republican soundly defeated incumbent and write-in candidate Robert Nix for the second time in three months. Abbo, who previously served three terms as supervisor from 2000-2012, also upended Nix in the Aug. 4 Republican primary (there were no Democratic candidates running for the position). Abbo noted the transition in the township s top spot is going as smoothly as possible in the midst of a pandemic. It s not going as quickly as I would have liked, given the COVID restrictions, but it is what it is, Abbo said. Ideally, I like to meet with people in-person because you can get a better sense of what s going on. It s easier to get more clarity when you re face-to-face with someone as opposed to talking on the phone.
