Marizon Building gets help with facelift through Center City grant
Since Center City of Amarillo began, numerous buildings within its boundaries railroad tracks to the east and north, Washington/Adams Street to the west, and I-40 to the south have participated in its Façade Grant program, improving the appearance of the exterior of a particular building or business.
Officials with Center City presented the latest $20,000 façade grant to the Marizon Building, at 705 and 707 S. Polk St., during an event at the In This Moment Parties & Events center Wednesday.
According to a news release, the Marizon Building was one of the first downtown restoration projects for Center City in 1996, and the first project completed on Polk. Since that time, Center City has given out more than $1.35 million in façade grants to buildings in its boundaries, administering the program for the city of Amarillo.
