Nigeria has suspended the head of the ports authority amid claims that she provided unfair dispensations to Dangote Group.
Hadiza Bala Usman was suspended on May 6 from her role as head of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari agreed that Usman should step back while an investigation is carried out.

Against the backdrop of financial misdeeds allegedly perpetrated by suspended Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala-Usman, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, inaugurated an investigative panel to probe the books of the agency.
The Chairman of the 11-man committee is Auwalu Suleiman, the Director of Maritime Services and it is co-chaired by Mr Ben Omogo, Director, Organisation Design & Development (OHCSF).

The suspension of the Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, is causing ripples in the Presidency, The Nation can report.
Hadiza was asked to step aside on Thursday while an administrative panel examines the books of the organisation.
Although the Presidency which ordered the suspension gave no reason for its action, sources said it has to do with the alleged non-remittance of N165.3 billion surpluses of the NPA into the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) by the suspended MD.
Daily Trust had earlier reported how Hadiza Bala Usman was suspended as Managing Director of the authority.
An aide of Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, had disclosed this to one of our correspondents, saying it had not been made official at the time.
But in his statement, Shehu said Buhari had approved a panel of inquiry on NPA and directed Usman to step aside.
The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recommendation of the Ministry of Transportation under Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for the setting up of an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to investigate the Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
