The Lewes Historical Society celebrates over 50 years of embracing Lewes history by continuing to offer safe, outdoor tour options to the public.
Following its History in Bloom tours during the Lewes Tulip Celebration Saturday, April 3, the society will begin its regular walking tour schedule the following weekend.
The society’s weekly maritime tours, An Introduction to Lewes, a Maritime Destination, will set out at 10 a.m., Saturdays, starting April 10 and running through Oct. 23. Participants will be taken on a journey through Lewes’ salty past and learn about the explorers who first put the town on the map. The tour will also disclose which pirates sailed local waters and talk about the brave United States Life-Saving Service men who rescued victims from shipwrecks. This
