Marion County School Board member resigns after moving out of district Joseph Erickson © Provided by WGFL Gainesville A long-time educator resigned from her position on the Marion County School Board Thursday morning after questions were raised regarding her move from the district she represented. In 2016, Beth McCall was elected to serve District 2 in the southern part of Marion County. She was reelected in 2020 to another four-year term after running unopposed. According to McCall s resignation letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis, she lived in District 2 for 26 years before moving to Ocala in April. McCall cites her husband s health issues as the reason for her move. However, school board members must reside in the districts for which they serve.
