Marion County Remains At Yellow COVID-19 Advisory Level, Schools Get Risk Calculation Tool

Indianapolis officials gave an update on COVID-19 this week. Marion County remains at a yellow advisory level with a 7-day average positivity rate of 15 percent among all tests. The county is experiencing a bump in cases after the holidays.
Officials addressed this week’s announcement that the NCAA plans to bring the entire men’s basketball tournament to Indiana. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said it’s still too soon to know whether or not fans will be allowed to attend the games in Indianapolis.
“Our behavior now, our behavior today determines our public health environment tomorrow,” Hogsett said.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Thursday: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
ISDH update
The Indiana State Department of Health reports 7,344 new COVID-19 cases. That brings to 546,499 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus.
The state also reported 81 additional deaths for a total of 8,452 since the pandemic began.
US unemployment claims dip to still-high 787,000
The number of Americans seeking unemployment aid fell slightly to 787,000, evidence of a job market stumbling in the face of the viral pandemic and the damage it has inflicted on the economy for nearly 10 months.

Another 301 deaths are considered probable, meaning COVID-19 is believed to have contributed to a patient s death, but there was no positive COVID test result on file.
