The latest information on coronavirus numbers from the Illinois Department of Public Health shows Wayne County recorded three new cases of the virus in a one-week period ending this past Thursday night and two new hospitalizations. Numbers for area counties included Clay County with 17 new cases and one hospitalization, Jefferson County with 24 new cases and five new hospitalizations and Marion County with 47 new cases and six new hospitalizations. The Marion County Health Department Administrator announced another COVID-19 related death in the county, a female in her 60s who was a long-term care resident and was vaccinated but not up to date. The IDPH said 19 counties in Illinois were at the medium level, up from 14 the week before. Richland County had been at the high level for community transmission but has since dropped back to the low level. Statewide the latest numbers indicated 4,050,952 cases and 36,297 deaths.
