The N.C. Wildlife Federation named Rick Sasser of Goldsboro as its Marine Resource Conservationist of the Year and House Majority Leader John Bell its Legislator of the Year as part of its 57th annual Governorâs Conservation Achievement Awards.
First presented in 1958, the Governorâs Conservation Achievement Awards are the highest natural resource honors given in the state.
North Carolina citizens nominate conservation leaders, professionals and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds from across the state. A committee of scientists, environmental educators and conservation activists select award winners.
Sasser is being recognized for working tirelessly for decades to conserve and preserve the coastal marine resources of North Carolina for future generations, according to the N.C. Wildlife Federation.
