Salvation Army Toy Shop Serves Record Numbers

By Kelly Meyer by Kevin Zimmermann SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan Salvation Army‘s Red Kettle Campaign is the most visible operation of the holiday season and, because of the pandemic, it’s struggling to reach even half of its annual goal.  But another, less-visible holiday operation is already a success. Development Director Carrye Jo Cony said that their toy shop had a big demand this year, and that they have over 1,300 children from 450 different families signed up to receive Christmas assistance this year, more than they’ve ever had.  To cover the demand, the Sheboygan Salvation Army worked with the Marine Corp Toys for Tots to fill the shelves, but even then weren’t sure they could fill the demand.  However, Cony said, the community “really stepped up”, and they were able to get at least three, and maybe more, toys for each child.
