Berkeley building on channing way was clear friday after University Workers cleared the lawn of the tents, signs and barriers that had been erected by protesters earlier in the week. Overnight, uc berkeley police, along with officers from 20 different Law Enforcement agencies from foster city up to fairfield, were called in to remove the encampment. 12 protesters were arrested as police and riot gear erected barricades surrounding the protest site to keep other protesters from entering the area. Report of a gunshot fired. A man in his late 20s who has yet to be identified was found dead in a Newark Shopping Center saturday morning. Employees say a customer walked by and saw the victim slumped over the steering wheel. Jimmy lee, Shopping Plaza employeehis engine was running and the windshield wipers were on. The victim was shot at least once in the head while sitting in the drivers seat of this dark grey bmw. The first homicide of the year was called into police at half past noon.
