At a glance: ¯ Waterford, Beverly and Belpre students were impacted by bomb threats to the Wolf Creek Local, Fort Frye Local and Belpre City school districts Monday. ¯ The threats were delivered via the same voice over internet protocol number as last week’s threats to Wolf Creek Local Schools. ¯ Early dismissal impacted elementary and high school buildings for each district. ¯ All three school districts threatened Monday confirmed increased security will be in place in the districts today and Wednesday.

jpatterson@mariettatimes.com Marietta City Schools Board of Education met for almost three hours Monday covering vaccination planning, consolidation plans, options for an income tax levy and the impacts upon staffing both in staff reduction and ongoing contract negotiations. Vaccination “As soon as we’re able to get our folks vaccinated, we will get them the vaccine,” shared Marietta Superintendent Will Hampton. “One thing that I was encouraged by is I did a survey with staff … 270 people, I believe, responded to the survey we have roughly 300 employees. So I was happy with the response, but 83 percent of our staff wants to get the vaccinations so that was very encouraging and when I spoke to the health department they were surprised by the numbers.”

jpatterson@mariettatimes.com Photo by Janelle Patterson Coronavirus reported case counts including daily testing results, hospital capacity data, death reports and reports of hospital diversion triggers have placed more southeast Ohio counties in the red for emergency advisory according to the Ohio Department of Health. According to Thursday’s Ohio Disease Reporting System data, 41 Washington County residents who have been diagnosed with coronavirus have also died, though only 31 deaths are logged as due to the virus and two are logged as probably due to the virus on the county map dashboard produced by the Ohio Department of Health. Washington County and Noble County were designated Level 3: Red, on the state public health advisory system, too, Thursday, for the first time since the onset of the pandemic.
