The Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) designation was passed in a 6-1 vote by the Public Lands, Buildings and Parks committee of Marietta City Council Thursday.
With the DORA designation, open to-go drinks can be sold at bars and restaurants if they are in DORA cups. There will be a DORA grid in Downtown Marietta where the drinks are permitted with specific waste containers and signs that show the DORA boundaries.
Jennifer Starkey, Marietta City Council clerk, said the DORA designation has an emergency clause, so when Mayor Josh Schlicher signs the designation, it will go into effect immediately.
