Susan Brown will remain as leader of the Labour-run city council, and will be joined by a team of senior councillors, a cabinet, of both returning and new members. The cabinet team has been announced ahead of the first meeting of the new council, due to take place today at 5pm. Ms Brown said: “Today I am delighted to be announcing our new roles and responsibilities for this year s cabinet. Over the past year the council’s priorities expanded to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, while also continuing to maintain our previous commitments.

Oxford City Councillor resigns early for family reasons

Alex Donnelly has stood down as an Oxford City Councillor AN Oxford City Councillor has resigned his post. Alex Donnelly who represents the ward of Hinksey Park has announced he will be stepping down as a councillor with immediate effect, for family reasons. Mr Donnelly, who was elected in 2018 and is member of the Labour Group on the Council, has had to move to London due to his partner’s employment. They are also expecting the arrival of their second child. No by-election will be held for his seat, so it will remain unfilled until the full city council election in May 2021.
