Lawrence karnow we enoyed a lot of sunshine and warmer weather today with some highs in the low 70s. It will be a nice mild evening and more spring like weather is ahead. If youre going out tonight youll need a light jacket or coat. Temperatures will begin mild but cool off rapidly. You can see some rain on Doppler Radar but it is well to the north. High pressure can be seen on the satellite image. Its a rather flat ridge allowing a few clouds to move over from time to time but well stay dry. As we head toward the later part of the week the ridge will strengthen to bring more sunshine and temperatures well above normal. For tomorrow we will see sunshine and a few clouds with mild temperatures in the 60s. We can expect a similar day on thursday. In el paso, texas, where he is visiting a community that is obviously still reeling from this weekends horrific massacre after a gunman echoing some of the president s antiimmigrant warnings of a, quote, invasion killed 22 people at a local walmart including eight mexican citizens. And we have just learned that the president will be visiting families, victims, First Responders and hospital staff at the University Medical center at el paso. Its where hes headed right now. There have been some protests today in el paso after a few local leaders urged the president not to visit. We are going to speak with one of those leaders in just a moment. But we should note there were others in the community who have welcomed the president as well. But, folks, the bigger problem with this visit as we saw a little bit is that the president doesnt have a lot of credibility publicly as a moral leader on issues of hate, and hes lacking the credibility he needs to be a voice for unity for the country.
