The first class of female recruits train at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, ending almost a hundred years when the boot camp accepted only men.
A group of female recruits completed Marine boot camp in San Diego this spring - the first time the Corps has trained women outside of Parris Island, S.C. But there are no immediate plans to make the new female boot camp permanent.
The first group of female Marine recruits to train on the west coast understood people were watching. Some observers were cheering them on, while others were more negative - like Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who called efforts to accommodate female troops a mockery of the U.S. military.

Limerick) on March 16th 2021, peacefully, in the devoted care of the staff of St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan, Co Westmeath. Beloved wife of the late Donal, devoted mother of Donal, Owen, Paul, Conor and Pádraig; mother-in-law of Rita, Aideen, Gail and Fiona, loving grandmother of James, Maria, Grace, Ronan and his wife Janet, Róisín, Ciara, Shane, Conor, Lorna and the late Tom, great-grandmother of Niall and beloved sister of the late Conor, Michael, Donal and Patricia, mourned by her cherished family, neighbours and friends.
CANTON: Frank J. Mittiga, age 89, passed away peacefully at his Riverside Drive apartment. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - Frank J. Mittiga, age 89, passed away peacefully at his Riverside Drive apartment. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
As per Frank’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A graveside service in Calvary Cemetery, Massena with full military honors to take place at the convenience of the family.
Frank J. Mittiga Jr. was born to the late Frank and Angela (Jermano) Mittiga on June 3, 1931 in Massena, NY. He attended Massena schools and graduated from Massena High School, later enlisting into the United States Navy and served his country proudly while onboard the USS
