The Department of Justice has charged a Missouri man for allegedly threatening Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer.Walter Lee Hoornstra, 50, faces charges of communicating an interstate threat and making a threatening phone call.
A Missouri man was indicted Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Justice for threatening to kill Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer because he opposed the Arizona Senate’s partisan election review, leaving a voicemail on the Republican’s cell phone telling him that “other people from other states are watching your ass.”
On the morning of the first big election Stephen Richer had ever run, election deniers’ most hated man in Arizona wore an easy smile and downed a Diet Coke while brushing off mean tweets, misinformation and angry emails.
