Flash Update: Escalation and Response in Marib Governorate - Issue #6 | 1 Jan - 20 Feb 2021 Format The situation in and around Marib remains volatile. Renewed fighting since the start of the year across parts of western, northern and southern Marib displaced more people mainly into Sirwah, Marib City and Marib Al Wadi districts. The most recent escalation in hostilities has hit people in Sirwah district the hardest. Since early February 2021, more than 1,000 households are confirmed as being displaced from conflict-affected areas in Sirwah. More people are expected to be displaced in the coming days as fighting escalates in and around Sirwah. Two UNFPA-supported health facilities in Sirwah district were shut down as a result of the clashes with services shifting to Al Rawdah district.

IOM Yemen | Displacement in Marib | Flash Update | 17 February 2021 Format HUMANITARIAN IMPACT Since January 2020, fighting in Marib, Al Jawf and Sana’a governorates has led to mass displacement, forcing an estimated 16,201 families (113,407 people) to flee, mostly towards Marib city and surrounding districts. More than a year since the first wave of displacement, the situation has once again escalated with renewed fighting across parts of western, northern and southern Marib. IOM and partners estimate that people in Sirwah district have been the most affected, and close to 1,000 households (HHs) have been confirmed as displaced from or within the district since 08 February 2021. The numbers are likely higher, and IOM displacement tracking and rapid response teams are in the process of tracking and registering new arrivals. People are fleeing areas where hostilities have spiked – particularly Dhanah Al Hayal, Dhanah Al Sawabin and Al Zour which host numerous displacement site

Yemen Risk Overview: Outlook for December 2020 - May 2021 Format OVERVIEW The Yemen Risk Overview is a risk identification report published every six months which outlines the main emerging risks in Yemen that might affect the humanitarian situation over the next six months. It aims to inform the humanitarian community of possible changes in context and humanitarian needs in Yemen, in order to facilitate preparedness, risk management, and response. ACAPS regularly tracks the identified risks and monitors previously identified risks that remain a concern (the ‘watch list’), and publishes monthly updates and one-off alerts as contexts change. Risk 1 Depletion of foreign currency reserves drives inflation up; eroded purchasing power and high food prices result in increased levels of food insecurity.
