ON the subject of the earliest Philippine photographs of which I have written before and for which Prudencio Mateos Perez, a journalist and antique bookseller from Madrid, got in touch with me, there is new information. And that is thanks to the painstaking research of Sr. Mateos Perez, who is also the custodian and cataloguer of an extensive library of documents of the Spanish governor-general of the Philippines from 1844-1850, Narciso Claveria.
