Originally pitched as a pay-as-you-go business model for renting office spaces, Café SOKO underwent severe changes only a few weeks after their opening in July. Largely influenced by the ever-changing public health guidelines preventing large indoor gatherings – a key part of their business model – Mark Fekete and his wife had to think on their feet to prevent going under.

Negotiations close for crossing guard salary increase

Special to The Record On Monday the city of Sherbrooke and the Canadian Union of Public Employees concluded their year-long negotiations over the Crossing Guard Collective Agreement. Discussions included redefining sections, requests for longer paid holidays, and a salary increase. According to Alain Savignac, union councillor for the Sherbrooke crossing guards, negotiations started in early spring of last year but had been delayed several times because of the pandemic. This, despite the agreement coming to an end in Dec. 2019.
