The trial of the murder of Diogo Gonçalves has seen one of the defendants sentenced to 25 years in jail while the other defendant sentenced to four years.
The Court of Portimão, on 27 April sentenced Maria Malveiro to 25 years in prison for murder while Mariana Fonseca was sentenced to four years in prison for her part in the crime but was absolved of murder.
Mariana Fonseca has now been released from preventive detention and is now waiting for the final decision in the case.

The trial of the two women, accused of the murder, dismemberment and disposal of a body in Sagres and Pego do Inferno, has ended with the Prosecutor asking for over 20 years in prison for both.
On 13 April, in Portimão Court, the prosecutor Miguel Teixeira argued that: “There is no doubt that they are guilty” and added that Maria Malveiro (20) and Mariana Fonseca(24) planned the death of Diogo Gonçalves as a means to take the compensation of €70,000 that he received following the death of his mother.
