Kilkenny employs 290 staff, although about 180 are currently laid off. As the pandemic laid waste to its traditional retail channels, Kilkenny Group invested â¬1.4 million in an overhaul of its IT and customer service systems. Online revenues, which were just 4 per cent of its sales, have grown by 300 per cent over the last 12 months and are currently almost a quarter of its business, with many staff redeployed from other parts of the business to cope with its online surge..

Galen Weston, the entrepreneur who built an Atlantic-spanning business network that included a long association with Brown Thomas, has died aged 80.
The Canadian had a personal as well as business connections to Ireland, where his family’s retail empire expanded in recent years to include Arnotts. While associated with luxury department store retail, the Westons also have a majority stake in the company that owns fast-fashion chain Penneys.

Evelyn Moynihan has been appointed CEO of Kilkenny Group, the family-owned Irish retailer of premium Irish craft and design.
Marian O Gorman, the Kilkenny Group owner and former CEO, will take on the new role of Group Chairperson. Ms O Gorman has been CEO of Kilkenny for over 20 years.
Evelyn Moynihan joined Kilkenny Group as Marketing and Business Development Director in November 2019, assuming responsibility for its marketing, innovation, e-commerce, IT, supply chain and buying functions.
Before the Kilkenny Group, Ms Moynihan also worked for Diageo and Musgrave Group.

The national Champion Green campaign to support local Irish businesses has launched its programme for 2021.
The movement aims to drive local recovery by encouraging people to #SupportLocal as the country looks to move on from the coronavirus.
The 2021 programme includes a new local loyalty app and a National Champion Green Week which will reward people for supporting local brands and businesses.
It is backed by a €1m package of investment aimed at helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to adapt their businesses.
