Good morning, im richard lui. Several performers are recovering this morning after a high wire circus act gone wrong in rhode island. The accident, which may be disturbing for some to watch, happened in front of a crowd of almost 5,000 people. There it was. At least nine acrobats were injured. Two of them critically. Ringling bros. Cancelled two performances. Ron mott reports from providence for us. Reporter amateur video shows a curtain being lowered just before the rigging collapsed from high above the circus floor. Eight female acrobats suspended by a hair hanging apparatus plunged to the ground about 35 feet, a male performer in the ring was also injured by the collapse. Crashes on area expressways this morning. State police said they responded to at least two dozen crashes on area expressways this morning. Including an accident in Schiller Park which left 2 people injured. The 2car accident happened on the 38hundred block of east river road. Snow led to slippery driving conditions across the chicagoland area this morning. The department of streets and sanitation deployed almost 2 hundred of its 2hundred84 trucks to clear streets of snow and apply salt. Theres fear could collapse under the weight. Over 200 flights in anticipation of the storm. All of the details later in the show. The northeast is bracing for massive winter storms that could bring 20 to 30 in. Of snow. Most of southern new england could see blizzard conditions. Hills start tomorrow morning with the heaviest amounts dumped that night and saturday. The storm hit just after the 35th anniversary of the historic blizzard that paralyzed the region. It has been a pretty tense week since a lunch room brawl on monday. Another fight on tuesday which led to 18 arrests. The students have yet to return and they now facing possible explosions that have extra plainclothes officers working today. Billboard on west 27th avenue in garry when a storm came through. Am shocked that they allowed him to work during a thunderstorm and i am disappointed. I had heard and deeply hurt that i will not see my son and i will not see my son see his children grow up. The county coroner says the man sustained multiple burns. The family is not sure what is next. The family had decided the wife would stay on to raise the children but they do not know what now. I pray for him every day because it is a dangerous job going up their high. Across town lightning struck a house killing a man. Neighbors knew him as jacki. They were doing cpr on him to try to bring them back but it did not work. Those who know him now it was his mothers house and he was staying home with this nine month old foster child.
