Immokalee farm workers fear impact of immigration law as community plans large-scale march

The Immokalee community is reeling from the recent passage of SB 1718, an immigration law signed by Governor Ron DeSantis (R). The bill, set to take effect on July 1, mandates that any business with 25 employees or more must use E-Verify to determine the immigration status of their workers.

But several months later, she found a new opportunity among the first cohort of community health workers hired by Healthcare Network, a local health care provider, and trained by Partners In Health to support her community’s response to the virus.
