The fast-growing Clonard area of Wexford town is set for even further expansion with ambitious plans to build a large-scale retail and residential development close to the existing Wexford Retail Park and Clonard Village.
A consultant is due to begin work in September on the preparation of a development plan for Castlebridge where residents have been complaining about the area being in dire need of better lighting, pedestrian safety, Active Travel schemes and amenity improvements.
Of 105 planning applications received in the Wexford District this year, 27 were refused and the majority of those did not go through the pre-planning process, Mayor of Wexford John Hegarty was informed.
Residents living in the vicinity of a planned asylum centre in the former Wexford town Garda Station building want to “know what’s going on”, according to local councillor Maura Bell.
