Outgoing foreign minister Urmas Reinsalu (Isamaa) has criticized a move by the government of Estonia s northern neighbor, Finland, in reinstating tougher border restrictions similar to those imposed in spring last year.
The Finnish border restriction comes amid fears of more potent strains of the COVID-19 virus entering the country.
The new rules, which enter into force next Wednesday and remain in place for a month, will mean only key workers providing essential services can enter the country. Estonian citizens and residents make up a significant proportion of Finland s workforce, meaning the border closure will have a major effect on those living and working in Finland, as well as in Estonia.

The BBC has revealed its list of 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2020.
This year 100 Women is highlighting those who are leading change and making a difference during these turbulent times.
The list includes Sanna Marin, who leads Finland s all-female coalition government, Michelle Yeoh, star of the new Avatar and Marvel films and Sarah Gilbert, who heads the Oxford University research into a coronavirus vaccine, as well as Jane Fonda, a climate activist and actress.
And in an extraordinary year - when countless women around the world have made sacrifices to help others - one name on the 100 Women list has been left blank as a tribute.

Stepping into the new government with Marin was Li Andersson (Left Alliance), 32; Maria Ohisalo (Green League), 34; Anna-Maja Henriksson (Swedish People s Party of Finland), 55; and Katri Kulmuni (Centre Party), 32.
