Many members of the team on Margo Lane said they were happy to spend their Saturday in service to others. Whenever things like this happen, we kind of gather together and get going, said Mary Grace Capps. She said she began volunteering with Hands On Nashville after the 2010 flood. We re resilient, and we come together whenever this town needs us, said Capps, a Nashville area native. We love this town whether we ve been here six months or our entire lives.
Capps and her fellow volunteers quickly got to work clearing clumps of branches and leaves that collected along a chain link fence when the water rose. They piled the debris onto a tarp and hauled it to a burning brush pile, which sent smoke drifting into the dazzling blue sky.
