Filling in the gaps of specialty coffee in Albany, Oregon, is Margin Coffee Roasters, which is celebrating the grand opening of its new roastery cafe this month.
David Hurley quit his job as a science teacher at Cascade High School in Turner so he could take a position applying his knowledge of chemistry. Since September, heâs been the coffee roaster for Margin Coffee in downtown Albany.
âIt was a hard decision that I struggled with,â Hurley said. âBut an opportunity like this doesnât come by very often. I figured, âLetâs see where it goes.ââ
Hurley, a 2000 graduate of Jefferson High School, stressed that he loved teaching, but he also loves coffee.
