Last year the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to temporarily abandon their reason for being: organizing seniors for team-oriented volunteer services. Instead, staffers with gift bags in hand made socially distanced visits outside the homes of their senior volunteers and other elders who were feeling isolated.
Hickox and her husband had COVID-19 last summer. Because she now has antibodies, she donates blood every 28 days to help other people fighting the illness.
Expensive office space
Then last fall, a new building owner turned what had been virtually free office space into unaffordably expensive office space, leaving Hickox, Campbell and the nonprofit s board of directors worrying how to proceed.
