In celebration of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (2021 QCP) this March 18, 2021, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (DPWH-ESDEO) initiated a coastal clean-up along the shoreS of the surfing area in Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar on March 5, 2021.
The said activity started at 7 a.m. led by District Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia and participated with 33 employees.
Among the most collected were dried coconut husks, tree branches, plastic food wrappers, ropes, plastic bottles, bottle caps, slippers as well as tiny pieces of foam which resulted in the collection of 10 cu.m of trash.
According to ESDEO District Engineer Ma. Margarita C. Junia, the coastal clean-up is timely because the district is now conducting road maintenance along Guiuan-Sulangan Peninsula Road in preparation for the 2021 QCP celebration in the province.

MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte – The Department of Public Works and Highways-Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (DPWH-SLDEO) has completed a P22.6-million tourism access road leading to the popular Anas view deck in Padre Burgos town in Southern Leyte province, a report from DPWH-SLDEO, based in this city said.

DPWH-SLDEO District Engineer Ma. Margarita C. Junia told reporters in an interview that the road is now providing easy access for locals and nature-loving tourists.
Junia reported that the project has converted nearly a kilometer stretch of dusty and bumpy road into a two-lane concrete tourism road.
